slow transfer of data from one local db to another

It took the DTS wizard 6 hours to move a table with 3 million records from one db to another on one box, but only takes me approximately 10 minutes to transfer the same data inside the same database. Any thoughts as to what I should do to fix this?

Are the Tlogs(LDFs) of both DBs on the same drive/share?

The tlogs are on the same drive

Does the table in the target DB have the same - exact - schema as the source table. ie ... no additional indexes or such?

Yes I just used the DTS wizard to copy the data over
