SBS 2003 server has five users configured with a number of shares created.

Existing XP workstation has been logging in for months as Sales1 with no problem.

A second XP system was configured (after the hard drive died) and was set up to access the same shares and tried to also attach as Sales1. Security is not an issue.

The mapping of drives would not work properly (map appeared but all data was inaccessible) and we could see from the server that this computer was being treated as Guest!

Finally changed the 2nd XP user to Sales2 (already an existing user account on the server) and tried to logon that way. It was treated as Guest too. After two or three reboots for application of updates over the Internet, the system suddenly seemed to recognize Sales2 and handle the mappings and rights as we wanted.

I'm happy now but am curious what might make the server originally use Guest login then apparently after a reboot accept the Sales2 login.

The proper bahaviour is now on day four after starting each morning. Is this just one of those things that happen?
