Slow tBrowse scroll on some computers

Hi,

I use network shared database (samba linux server) with an clipper 5.3 aplication running on a few Windows XP and Windows 98 computers.
I do no have any idea why on some of them scrolling records runs very fast ( i.e. an old AMD Athlon), but on some computers (i.e. PIV 3GHz, 512MB RAM) it runs very slow. The configuration of all computers is identical.

Where can I find the reason why it is so slow ?

I'm guessing the slow machines are the XP ones.
If that is the case it may be the clipper app under XP is hogging all the cpu cycles and interfering with comms to the database server.

If task manager shows the clipper app running 100% cpu usage then that may be the problem. The app may have to be compiled to insert wait states in order not to cause lockups.

Yes it is Windows XP, but one of them is Windows XP Prof station and applications works wery fast.

Maybe that machine has a dual processor? The clipper app will only lock up one processor, so the other will still be OK and will get used by other tasks such as network comms.

Again, you should be able to see that in task manager.
