I am having a huge problem copying data from a NW 4.11 server to a brand new Windows Server 2000. All NICs are 10/100 running on 3com 33000 switches. I am not running autonegotiation on the nics or ports of the switch. I have all Compaq servers so equipment is decent. I have IPX running on the 2000 server, but I don't have Client 32 running on it and would like to stay away from installing it. It literally took 5 hrs. to copy just 2 gigs of data. Now just 12 more to go! If anyone has any knowledge on this subject matter please rescue me!
Thanks for the help

P.S. I posted this same thread in the Server 2000 forum.

As a start, if you have any virus software loaded on either server, ensure that this is not causing your problem. Whether it is being scanned because your NetWare server is configured to scan Reads, or whether your W2k server is set to scan writes, this could and usually does slow it down. -----------------------------------------------------

Be SURE that you're copying at the command prompt, using XCOPY or XCOPY32 with appropriate flags. If you're copying in Windows Explorer, you'll slow things down hugely, making temporary files and such! Also make sure that NICs on both ends are NOT set to Auto for Link Speed or duplex - that also can slow things down horribly! (lessons learned the hard way!)
