Have a client with a 7758 Core switch, in the MDF, with 5500-EI 48 port switches in 6 IDFs. The workstations are having slow response times connecting to the Network servers, mix of Novell 4.11 and Windows 2003. Most of the 5500 switches have 2 uplinks back to the 7758. The servers are connected directly to the 7758. No one area in the building has better connectivity to the servers than another. The 7758 and 5500s are configured for link-aggregatio groups and lacp is enabled. All are running 3.02 firmware.

Make sure STP (Spanning-tree protocol) is configured properly. And it wouldn't hurt to put a packet-sniffer on the net. Wireshark should do the trick.

Have Fun!
