Hello all.

The server that we are trying to get this GoVault drive to run on is a Dell 2600 2.8 GHz Xeon machine with 1GB memory running SBS 2003 Premium. It has 1 channel (0) and is configured as RAID 5 with 6 physical drives and 3 logical. We are using a SIIG, Inc. Serial ATA 4-Channel PCI card (SiI 3114) for the GoVault drive. We performed a backup using NTBACKUP with 25 GB of data. The backup took 4.5 hours with no verification.

We then removed the both the PCI card and the GoVault drive and put them into a Windows XP Pro with 1GB memory and 2.4GHz P4 Processor. We coppied the 25 GB files over to the Windows XP machine and started NTBACKUP just as we did on the Server. This time the backup took 38 minutes. The difference is almost 9 x. Something must be wrong here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Now the question is: Is there a conflict by using a SCSI motherboard with a SATA controller?

The SATA controller shows up under SCSI under the Device Manager when we have it installed on the server.

Do we have any other options as far as using a different RAID setup? Could drivers cause the problem? Thank you very much for your help.
