Another Problem.

I'm backing up about 2.5Gb which take 5 minutes. However it takes 1Hr 10 minutes to restore.

Server IBM 6H1 DTO 200Gb drive

Any Ideas where to start looking --

Is the backup done out-of-hours and you are restoring whilst the system is in use ?

hi,

what is your block size set to ?

normally you would set it to 0 and use the program like backup to specify the block size

check

1. block size of tape drive , set it to 0
2. the program you are using to backup , specify block size
3. when restoring specify the block size used when backed up

What kind of backup are you doing? Are you restoring the data to the same system, or a different system? If its a different system are the disks the same speed? Fiber/Scsi attached?

I would definately expirement with the block size settings..

Good Luck!

Thanks for all your help guys. I managed to figure this out it was a DLT drive not a DLO, the block size of the device must be set to 232628 and the output/input block size should be 512, restores in minutes now.
