Slow restore (at least I think it is)

We are test restoring to a DR site - the original backup was created by ARcserve, we are using BUE for the restore. Both original OS and DR OS is NT4. The restore from designated media is taking 4-5 hours per tape. Is there somewhere we can change the cache option to speed this up? Or any other ideas to speed the restore.
