Slow Response - Right Clicking on media files

After a recent update to McAfee VirusScan Online, I have found that when I right-click on a media file, it takes 8-10 seconds for the open dialog box to open (not the file.....just the little box with open, open with..., etc.)

When booting the system with nothing but the AV software (and explorer/systray) running, the problem will go away and return as I disable and enable the AV software. I contacted McAfee and they indicate this is a new change to scan for some new MP3 and MPEG viruses.

I hope this is incorrect. 8 to 10 seconds seems like forever when you just wish to delete a file, or rename it, plus it seems to have the same delay when you double click a media file before it starts the associated program.

This can't be the way it should be. Has anyone else had this problem and/or found a solution???

you might try using exclusions to try to combat that. If what they say is true you can exclude mp3 and mpg files, otherwise I would try ini, and lnk FatesWebb

Thanks for the suggestion. I had thought about doing that as well, but could not find the place to do this. I know I could do this in NAV, but have not been able to find it in McAfee VirusScan Online.

Do you know where I can do this?

I have actually never even seen activeshield, although I have had to remove it that is all so sorry. I did search for the info and did not find it. sorry good luck. FatesWebb
