slow printing

I was loaned a 950 Hp jet printer. I downloaded the software from HP for the device driver. After installing, printing documents on my Brother MFC now takes 10 minutes per page. Could adding the device driver for the HP printer have done this and if so how do I fix it?

What type of document are you trying to print? if it is an image or something other that a word doc, ie pagemaker output, what is the resolution. How much ram does your machine have? The machine has to convert the file to data that it can feed the printer, if the file is rather large this may take quite a bit of time, especially if your machine does not have much memory to handle the task. Unfortunatly, youmay just have to wait.

I'm just trying to print word documents. They used to print much faster. I've got 192 MB ram. Everything is working great but the printer. When I start printing something my computers performance slows to a crawl. This seems to have happened after the software install for the printer.
