Hello all. We run Active Directory on a 2003 Server. Most of our workstations are XP Pro and Win 2000. When you try to add a network printer through ADD A PRINTER wizard it takes a very long time to come back with the available printers list(about 8 min. and even longer at our remote sites). We have about 10 remote sites that connect via VPN Tunnels using cisco routers and it takes even longer to get a printer list at those sites. Using the UNC name works a lot faster but you don't always have the UNC name available when you are at other locations or when trying to walk some through connecting to a network printer. Is there a way to speed up the browsing for availaable printers?

First off, this is the W2K forum, you should have posted here,
Anyway, just browse to the print server by typing in \\servername, it will provide a complete list of available printers. The users just need to right click on the one they one and choose Connect.

I'm Certifiable, not cert-ified.
It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.
