Slow performance - Macs using Native File Access

I have my Mac users (G3 & G4) machines hooked up to a Novell 5.1 network with Native File Access as the means for logging in. Noticing that when one user starts a copy to the server, everyone else is slowed down. This didn't happen when we were running the IPX client, only since switching over to Native File Access.

So, I moved everyone to a switch with ports set to 100/half duplex and with a Gigabit link back to the main switch in the server room. This DIDN'T improve things. Is there some type of setting on the MAC side or Novell side that might be causing this slowness? (like "Calculate Folder Sizes" in the Mac OS).
