Hello,

our local Backup is very slow. The speed shows 5 MB / min. We need about 35 hours for 9 GB. Thats not really fast.

Who can help ?

The System environment is:

Proliant ML 370
DLT Streamer 20/40
NT 4
Arcserve 6.5 Built 6.22

1. Are you running the latest NT Service Pack (SP6a)?
2. Are you running the latest SCSI drivers for your SCSI card/Compaq server?
3. Is your DLT 20/40 firmware up to date?
4. Have you patched Arcserve (if there are any patches)?

Try these, should definately help.

Are the latest SCSI-Driver important ? I thought arcserve uses his own drivers ?

The SCSI adapter driver is important to keep updated. Arcserve uses it's own driver for the tape device, so you should remove any WIndows tape device driver that happens t load.
Check you general server health for the reasons behind slow backup. How does the CPU utilization look during backup? How much memory gets allocated? Has the physical memory been exceeded by the commit charge? (use task manager to check this) Chris Horvath - True Data Storage Networks Inc. - New York City
