Our new machines coming in have Windows XP on them. We've taken our Domino server up to 5.0.10 and we installed the 5.0.10 client on all the new machines. On a half the new machines, the client moves at a snails pace. We've narrowed it down to the machines themselves - either hardware or software, just not sure which.
Our setup is:
Dell Inspiron 8200
Windows XP
256 RAM
Xircom NIC
Client for Windows (along with TCP/IP - being served through DHCP)
Client for Netware (with IPX/SPX for connection to some of our older netware servers)
Notes Client 5.0.10 connecting to Domino 5.0.10 running on a Win2k server with all updates.
Replaced users database to use iNotes which is actually faster!
Any suggestions??

We made our test too on an Inspiron 4150 and you know what we found out? Take a look at the task manager and see how much memory it uses alone for standby... it was already on 147 Mb! How much more if you put it Notes other programs? Of course it would be slow!! the only resolution we find for now is to go for 512Mb RAM.. that usually solves the case...

Very ture indeed. XP is a memory hog. I have an Inspiron 8100 with 512 mem and R5 loaded, have no performace problems at all. this might be you only option.....
