Hi All.
As the title states, I am having slow network connection speeds on PC's that are connected to network via the PC port on the back of Avaya IP 1120's and 1140's.
I know there was a Nortel document a couple of years ago addressing this issue. I am looking for that document so I can hit my phone supplier over the head with it.

I've found a message relating to this below. I'm not sure if it's the same problem that you have?.

Problem
IP Phones slow responding to TPS query hookswitch messages resulting
in no keys showing and unable to dial out.

Details and Fix
Details:
Additional data networking switches/routers added to a customers network resulting in no keymaps showing on any of the IP phonesets.

The following is an example of one of the messages seen on the sig servers, hosting the IP Phone registrations, at the time the customer was testing the additional data networking switches:
LOG0003 SET: Keymap download failed, pdset 0x30d244cc, tn=0xa215, ip=10.230.140.122, retry of hookswitch 61

Fix:
Applying sig server patch mplr24199_2 increases the timer from 3 to 5 seconds, for the time that the TPS expects to receive a response, from and IP Phone, when it sends out a QueryHookSwitch message.
This patch takes into account addtional delay induced into a customers network from addding extra hops/routers/layer 3 switches into the IP network.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:
There are no special instructions for loading the patch, however, if you need to remove the patch without rebooting the sig server you MUST do the following:
1) Type dsetDelayHookswitchSet 'restore',0 from vxshell
2) Type poos
3) Type dsetDelayHookswitchSet '1175',3000

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Thanks for the response, but our problem is not the same.

Phones work fine. But when connecting to the network, upload and download speed are at a crawl.

We have this problem when there is a mis-match in speed. The data port need to be set for auto and the phone auto.

More than one year ago, Avaya (Nortel) issued a bulletin that stated some 1120/1140 sets were manufactured with a specific, defective, chipset.
Nortel was replacing, for free, phones that were manufactured with the chipset in queston. I know this "recall" is over but my customer is still coming across some of these phones. They buy them secondhand. I am looking for the document so I can share with the customer.

verify if the LAN switchport to phone (speed) matches the PC to phone (speed)

if not, make them match....(LAN swtich is 1000Mbps ->phone -> 1000mpbs PC, or 100 to 100.... whatever.)

so to clarify, basically avoid a 100Mpbs connection from the LAN swtich to the phone and 1000Mpbs from the phone to PC (this combo).
