Ok here goes,
i have a lan purely for internet access in glasgow which connects via a 2MB leased line. I have regional offices in the UK. Each regional office has a checkpoint firewall as does the glasgow office. There is a vpn from glasgow to each regional office. I need all web requests from regional offices to go through my glasgow office. The connections are 512k ADSL from regional offices thru my ISP to glasgow, shortly to be 1MB. These are business ADSL with a 20:1 contention ratio. Workstations in regional offices can authenticate easily but it takes at least 10 minutes for a user to logon even for a new test user without a profile. Once the user is logged on there are no speed problems. What can i do to speed this up. I was thinking of creating all the regional office profiles locally on the machines but would prefer not too. What do i do to streamline the logon to W2K AD.

many thanks %-

I have the same problem. I've got a Watchguard 700 with a 2MB ADSL at the main office and Watchguard SoHo TC's with 512 ADSL at the satellite offices. Login authentication takes about 5 minutes but once done everything is fine. One suggestion was to reduce the Windows MTU, but that made only a slight difference.
