I need data from an Access 97 tablet for some calculations. I've set up a remote view via ODBC and only selected the fields that are needed for the calculation. When I open the view in my form, it takes a long time for the Access data to be available. The status bar show VFP going through each record in the Access table before it is available. I know enough about ODBC to be dangerous. Since the Access table is 37,000 records and growing, it there any way to speed this process up? Is there a better way? Thanks for any suggestions.

Access databases to begin with are slower than a Sloth and having 37,000 records is alot for access.

to speed up data access you mite try putting in a where clause or play with SQL-Passthrough which is faster than remote views. Draw back to Sql-Passthrough is updateing records is a bit harder

or you could convert the table to DBF and have access play with that table instead of it's own database
