I'm not sure whether this is an Outlook problem or an XP problem, but Outlook takes *forever* to load on my laptop running WinXP Pro. The laptop is an IBM T-30 fully populated with memory. I tried and uninstall/reinstall with no improvement. Outlook loads lightening fast on my other slower computers running Win2000 Pro. I hate to keep whining about WinXP (did so yesterday) but I'm not convinced it has the "right stuff".

As per my other post, I solved the problem by unchecking the Exchange client setting in options>other>advanced options>add-in manager. Instant speed on startup.

I have seen this happening when Outlook is set to download Hotmail or similar web based accounts.
Is it set to synchronize with a server?
