I am accessing a Word 2000 document from a netware server and the keyboard response time is extremely slow when editing a large table in the document. I have copied the file to the c: drive and edited the same table and the keyboard response time is instant. I have also copied the file to a NT 4 server, mapped a drive to this server and done exactly the same thing with the document and the response time is again instant.

So it appears to be a Netware issue but not sure what. Can anyone help with this.

Our environment is Netware 5.1 SP3

Have you got file caching switched on or off?

SET CLIENT FILE CACHING ENABLED = OFF -----------------------------------------------------

First off, are you running any kind of Virus Protection at the Server level, such as McAfee NetShield?

What version of the NetWare Client are you running? Is it the latest and greatest?

How about protocols? TCPIP? IPX? NetBEUI? All of them?

Is the workstation configured with a 100Mbit Network adapter? How about the NetWare Server? Are they configured for Full or Half Duplex?

Please advise.
