I am running a cyber cafe consist of 10 pcs. Since 1 week the internet goes slow and modem lacks after every 2 to 3 minutes. Bytes stop coming from my isp and connection goes down and disconnect. I think this is bcoz of a virus. Can anyone tell me wat should I do.

May not be a virus, it may be bad phone lines. We've had similar problems. After several weeks of research, the phone company switched pairs of wires and everything came back up.

how are you connecting the 10 PCs to the internet? are they on a LAN with a switch + a router?
if so, how's the connection to the router?

a connection /network schematic and some more information may help.

<marc> i wonder what will happen if i press this...[pc][ul][li]please give feedback on what works / what doesn't[/li][li]need some help? how to get a better answer: faq581-3339[/li][/ul]

could be the welchia virus.

check processes (ctl+alt+del) and look for dllhost.exe, if it is there you have welchia virus.

also check folder (win2000, xp) :
Windows\System32\Winsthe file you are looking for in that folder is svchost.exe

If you find any of those email me and i will help you out with getting rid of it.. spent pretty well all day thursday gettting rid of that virus

They are on a lan with a 16 port switcher. I am running my network on ISA Server. But nothing wrong with network connections, its the dialup connection on server which stops receiving bytes from my isp and then disconnect after every 3 to 5 minutes.

I didnt find any process running named dllhost.exe, but i found svchost.exe process running in 8 instances in the process tab. I also found svchost.exe and dllhost.exe files in system32 folder. What should I do.

Look at thread760-638104.
