Slow internal Email flow

Hello gentelmen.
I m having an issue with internal emails. When i send an email from my outlook to someone else in the company, it stays 5-12 seconds in my outbox before it leaves. When i send an email to extrenal acounts hotmail,yahoo, it imidietly leaves my outbox. Has anyone seen this problem or has any suggestions. I have checked logs, ran DC diag, to make sure there arent any name resolution issues causing this. I dont know what else to check..i ran exchange analyzer as well, and no problems.

What mechanism are you using to send mail?
Exchange (the norm) or SMTP/POP3?
 
How are your queues looking? If the queues are looking clean, it sounds like it could be a congested network. Make sure everyone is patched, and updated on the virus defs.

I am using Exchange server 2003, Mapi clients.
I am also using Symantec Mail Security for Exchange..i removed it and tested email just to rule it out, and same issue.
I have 150 PCs, no routers but a netscreen that is also our firewall.
i would think it has to do with Information Store due to gettting email from one mailbox to the other.. i can be wrong.
ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE USEFULL PLEASE.
 
I'm sure you already checked this, but are all users experiencing the problem or only your PC? Also, check your PC's event logs for any connection or network problems. If you're using cached Exchange mode, turn it off and try again. (I've had problems with machines with large caches.)

 
I am running 140 outlook2000 sr-1 and 10 outlook 2003.
Its not just my PC, this happens to everyone. Its not a major issue, i am just trying to figure thsi out, because every mailserver i worked on at many different companys, larger and smaller,
In outlook when i hit send, its immidietly out of the outbox
