Slow IE 7.0

IE 7.0 is brutally slow on my Sony Vaio laptop. I have XP(2), Norton 360, and a slew of other anti-virus programs. The processor is 1.37, obviously not fast, but shouldn't be the cause of slow web surfing. Something is clearly blocking the page from loading. It will load, but takes a long time. I've never tweaked any settings in the Options of IE 7. Norton 360 was recently installed but the problem existed before the installation (previously Norton Internet Security).

I just did a scan with RegCure, a diagnostic and fix program I found in the ads on Softpedia. It found over a 1000 errors, and I immediately became suspect. Is there a trustworthy diagnostic and fix tool that might help solve a slow IE (and/or slow computer)? Is RegCure legit or a gimmic? Should I be messing around with the Registry?
