AIX 4.3.3
RS/6000 H70

interface set to 100MB full_duplex

transfers by ftp out of the system are at normal speed
transfers into the system are very slow and often timeout

IBM have suggested matching RS/6000 interface settings to switch settings - we are going to achieve this by putting a hub in between the two.

Any other ideas as to the solution ?

Glad you fixed it. If putting a hub in between you and the switch fixed the problem then you might want to look into setting the port to half duplex instead of using a hub so you can still get 100mb. Just a thought.

Had a similar problem on a PC network card. It didn't like full duplex connections to other systems in the same subnet. Switched it to half duplex which cured the problem instantly. Funny enough FTP connections to other subnets were unaffected.

Well, this one was fixed by changing the input / ouput buffer sizes to similar ones to the rest of my RS/6000s.

This one was set to 8192/374 instead of 64/32 !!
