Slow form using lookups and queries

Hi,

I have a large form which contains:

48 list-boxes
- each list-box looksup 5 rows from an individual table that contains a number and text.
Every single list-box is set to sort the list-box by the number, descending.

I'm guessing Access has to load up all the data and run the queries before you have access to the form.

How can I solve this problem
I have an 850Mhz, 256 Mb RAM, PC running XP Professional and Office XP.

I forgot too mention the form takes about 2-4 minutes to load up each time.
