Slow File Transfer Speed

We have a client with Metaframe XP FR3 on a Windows 2003 server. It
uses the web application and SSL to connect. Testing shows that file transfers between
their corporate office with a T1 line and a fast DSL remote user is
extremely slow. Transfer of 5 Jpg files for a total of 250k says it
will take over 12 minutes to perform the task.

They will actually have many users remotely using just dialup so that
will be much worse.

Does anyone have any ideas to what can cause this. Transfering the
files with FTP takes minimal time.

If you are tranferring files to the client PC via ICA it may take some time(i.e client frive mapping). Try the copy via a straight network connection. Avoid trying to copy files to client PCs using the citrix client.

The ica protocol is not built for file transfer, but for vector graphics transport.
Preferably use MS SMB (ie \\clientname\share) for this
