Slow File Transfer over VPN

Hi there. I have a VPN tunnel set up between a PIX 515 and a PIX 525. I am trying to transfer big files between two Windows boxes trhough the VPN tunnel experiencing a very low tranfer rate. Same thing happens when I tried to NFS to a Linux box. Connectivity wise everything seems to be OK. Any Ideas? Thanks.

Perhaps you are having fragmentation issues. This can happen when you send the traffic through a VPN since IPSec will add overhead to the packet making the packet size too large for the MSS or MTU values. Try lowering the MSS or MTU and see if that helps.
