Slow Dropdowns

Hi there, I wonder if anyone could shed any light on this problem. We have installed a new version of livelink onto one of our servers. The server is about twice the recommended spec and the database is housed on another server also as recommended.
When clicking on the dropdown icons, the menus take around 3-4 seconds to load the first time, and then appear instantly onced cached.
I just wondered if this small delay is usual for a local system, or whether the dropdowns should appear instantly first time?
Any advice or experience would be appreciated

Many thanks

Nick

java based navigation is always slow first to load.Wait for the 9.5 release when they replace java based with dhtml menu's.Even now there is a javascript menu option but personally I do not like that

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?

I tried version 9.5 this morning on an opentext preview site and honestly, for action menus, I didn't really noticed any speed gain. But it's true that for main menus, it is REALLY faster (almost instantaneous in fact!)

The menus are built dynamically depending of the object and the user permissions so I guess it may be a bit slow addtionnaly to being "java-long"......
Ticker on the homepage is awfully long too !
