slow drop down menus at design time

When I am doing development my drop-down menus in VB6 drop down painfully slowly, anything, format, file, etc, simply crawls down the page and it becomes much worse if I try to go from one menu to another. The problem also exists in access. I am using Windows 98 and VB6(enterprise edition). What causes this?

I am sorry that i don't have an answer for you, hoever, I am having the same problem, I am also running windows 98. It is awfully frustrating. If you figure anything out please let me know.

Seosamh, I understand your problem. The Microsoft VB developers saw fit to bury the solution to this royal pain in a place where they were certain nobody would ever look.

Click the View menu, then Toolbars and Customize. Click the Options tab. Click the dropdown for Menu Animations and select (None). Your problem will go away.

The VB IDE is a much friendlier place when you don't have to wait five minutes for the menus to drop down.
