slow Crystal XI

We are running Crystal XI. The one XP workstation that runs these reports that are shared on a Windows Server 2008 is suffering from very slow performance when trying to run these reports. It does not matter if these reports are subsequently placed local on the workstation or kept shared on the server. I installed the latest service pack for Crystal on the station. No luck. Any ideas?

Has Crystal always run slow, or is this a new develpoment? is it every report that runs, or just a few that get noticed? is Crystal using the Prod DB tables, or a warehouse-type database? Have you tried running the reports after hours, when there is little or no DB traffic? it could be any number of things, so we need to narrow it down.

Define 'slow', please..

Does it take a long time for the first page to appear or is it taking a long time for the entire report to finish?

How many records are being returned and from what kind of database ( Oracle, Access, SqlServer, etc.) ( and using what connection method)?
