Hi All,

I am using crystal reports version 8 within an asp application.

I have created a pretty complex report off of an oracle database. This report executes in about 25 seconds via the crystal version 8 report designer....But it takes 2.5 - 3 minutes to execute the exact same report with the exact same parameter values via the asp application via the crystal version 8 runtime.....The asp pages are located on a windows 2000 server, with iis5 and mdac version 2.7, oracle client version 8.1.7.5.....

Any ideas as to why the performance problems between the runtime and the designer would be appreciated.

There can be many contributing factors, the first thing I would try is loading Crystal Reports on to the server and running it there.

Also make sure that whatever you're passing in terms of parameters is reflected in the Database->Show SQL Query.

You also may be using different connectivity. For the best performance, use the native Oracle connectivity supplied by CR, NOT ODBC, and certainly not the Oracle supplied ODBC if you do use ODBC.

As you probably know, CR 8 is no longer supported so there aren't any Service Packs available.
