Hi,

I am currently porting some software onto a new PSeries server running AIX 5.2 and have found that compile times (using the xlc compiler)are taking forever (i.e. hours instead of seconds).
We have compiled the software on another PSeries running AIX 5.1 without error using the same compile flags.

This leads me to believe that there is an issue with the setup of the machine rather than an issue with the way we are compiling. Does anybody know what could be causing this and if there are any system parameters that could be set wrong or need tweaking that would hinder compile performance.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt.

what version of ML are you running ?
if you go to the APAR s/w download site

you can compare what filesets you have against the latest
using the compare_report program on aix 5.2 in /usr/sbin
but first you download the latest list fromn this site and run the command against this file , if a list of filesets are displayed download them .

The instructions are on the above site for AIX 5.2
