Hi all,

I have 5 users that are connected remotely to my server & are connected to my SQL Server db using an Access frontend. The problem they are having is that when they are opening forms it takes a long time to build the form on the screen. Does anyone know of a way to improve this performance.
They are using a fast 512 Adsl connection.

Thanks in advance.

Does each user have their own copy of the database front-end, or are all users sharing a single front-end?

Also, what exactly do you mean by Slow Building of Forms? Slow in painting the form itself, or slow in filling in the data?

Hi Guys,

Sorry about the delay in response.

Each user has their own frontend, they are not sharing.
'Slow Building of Forms' means that the form is 'slow in painting' itself. The data retrieval is quick however.

Sorry, don't have a clue if each user has their own copy of the front end on their machine. When you said "They are using a fast 512 Adsl connection" I thought perhaps they were sharing a copy of a front end off a server. The only other thought I had (I have so few these days, I try to dole them out sparingly) is that you have a load of things going on in your Form_Load or Form_Current subs, i.e. checking values then doing some formatting, checking to see if record is a new record then doing something, etc.

Do you have adequate RAM, processor speed, etc? (not a hardware person but I've seen those be a factor in client workplaces for remote access)
