Slow brick level backup AS 6.61

Hi,

I have a brick level backup of an Exchange 5.5 sp4 server using AS6.61 that take 9.5 hours to backup 11gb. 18mb per minute. It takes 55 minutes to back up the directory and information store.

I have turned off my anti virus software. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this may be so. I am using a HP SureStore40x6 attached to an Adaptec 2940uw scsi card.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Just a suggestion. Run a check for the integrity of exchange database. Use the "isinteg" command on the exchange box. This process actually helped me when I had a similar problem.

That's eseutil for Exchange 5.5. Use it with the ? parameter to get more info. I do a consistency check and then a defrag about once a month.
