Hi,

One of our backup servers has suddenly started writing really slow. It backs up to itself, so I don't think the problem is network related. It's the only client it backs up and it's running at around 300kb/s. The firmware and drivers are upgraded to the latest. The server is an NT4 server running V6.1.3. Has anyone seen this before or have any suggestions ?

Thanks,
Caroline

Try cleaning your tape drive? You didn't mention what kind you had, but my DLTs get REAL slow if I don't make sure they're cleaned regularly.

What is the server parallelism?
Group parallelism?
Client parallelism?

Any messages in the event logs?

Hi,

We decided to make this server a client of another backup server so the backup ran across the LAN. We got speeds pf 3-4mb/s, so we think the problem lies on the server somewhere. We've asked for all the firmware and drivers to be updated and we'll see where that gets us. The tape drive being used is a TZ89.
Thx for the advice,
Caroline
