Slow Backups Using Networker 6.1.2

Hi All.

Have just upgraded from Networker 5.1 to Networker 6.1.2 on HP-UX 10.20

We're running Oracle 7.3.4 databases and have Oracle Module 2.0 installed.

Our backups are now taking 5 times as long as before. Also, we note that when trying to delete old Oracle save sets, it now takes a few hours, rather than a few minutes.

Can anyone advise or suggest any remedies?

i sincerely hope that you didn't go straight from version 5.1 to version 6.x, as this will leave your indexes andmedia database in a mess. The supported route would be to go to version 5.5.x first, and then on to version 6.x.

To prove this, stop the services, move the /nsr/index and /nsr/mm to one side, restart the services, and try a backup. See what speeds you get then, and if the performance in general is what you expect. Cheers
