Slow Backups, database related?

I have ARCserve 2000 AE. Windows NT environment. I have a backup server that is using a Seagate Viper 200 LTO drive to backup up 3 other servers. When I backed up an entire server, it backed up data at around 500 MB/Minute. When I set up a rotation scheme, it backed up data at 35 MB/Minute. It has to be database related, doesn't it? I switched it back to do just do full backups of the important directories every day, no rotation scheme in the software (I'll handle that). Repeat every day. Now it is back to 500 MB/Minute.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to speed up the rotation setup? Are there some settings for the database I haven't seen?

TIA

Has anyone else experienced this? There has got to be a solution for this...
