Slow backup throughput

My server by server backup usually takes no more than 5 hrs to complete. However, over the past few days it has taken in excess of 12 hrs. I checked the logs and the throughput has dropped to 1/4 of its usual speed. I have updated scsi drivers, network adaptor drivers, viewed both systems logs and switch logs; nothing unusual in any of them. If Brightstor achieves a slow throughput on the first server it backs up, will it "throttle down" on the whole backup job?

Thanks

Just some diagnostic tips to help you, josem05.
Check network adapter settings. Locking down the duplex setting on a network adapter can cause your throughput to drop like a rock, if you set them the wrong way. Been there, done that. Your best bet is to make sure the adapters are set to automatically determine their settings, for the time being, on both the server and clients.
Swap the ports on the switch where the server is attached to either an empty port or with one of the client systems.
Inspect LAN cables. Overstretched, pinched, or folded cables can cause problems that don't always show up in the switch logs, too.
Lastly, review the amount of data being backed up. Did something new get added somewhere?

Hope these pointers help.
