Compaq ML570 server, Overland LoaderXpress autoloader (containing Seagate Viper 200), Win2K, Arcserve 2000. Compaq SCSI cable.
Backups run at 1 GB/min, but nearly always fail with "E6300 Windows NT SCSI PORT Error" after 1 or 2 GB. Swapping the supplied terminator for an old one drops the speed back to about 0.5 GB/min, so backups take > 6.5 hours.
According to the company web site the slower terminator autosenses between LVD & SE, and the terminator supplied by Overland has an LED showing LVD operation. Even so, the older terminator must be forcing the bus to slow down.
Does this mean the SCSI controller can't keep up? According to Compaq, it is Wide Ultra 2.
Everything is patched up. Compaq say talk to Overland, Overland say check cabling etc.
Any SCSI gurus out there?
