When im trying to sign onto a Windows 2000 Server network it seems to take forever. Im not sure if its a setting with my DSL modem or the server its self. The server is set up for DNS and DHCP. The clients request IP addresses from DHCP on Win 2000 server. But uses the DSL modem as a DNS server. Im using a flashed Speedstream 5660. Should I disable DNS on the modem and use DNS from the server? What other setting could speed up the signing on process? Im using Windows XP Pro as the clients. I also loose my connection quite often. Im hoping some one out here can give me some information on using a server thats connected to a DSL modem.
