Slow ARCserve 7 for NetWare 6 restore

When I try to restore a file from ARCserve 7 on my NeWare 6 server, while the file is being located on the tape, the server utilization goes way up, the number of disk requests go way up and my users lose connection to the server. So it is basically impossible to do a restore during working hours. It appears that the restore seems to take priority over everthing else, (like file and print serving). How can I overcome this problem so I can restore a file whenever I want.

What Service Packs of Netware do you have installed - Are you upto SP2!? Have you updated/applied any CA fixes?

When this happens, go into monitor and see what ArcServe process is causing the High Utilization - Let me know.

Also, can you tell me what type of SCSI card and device you are using.
