I have a very odd problem. There is an administrative share that I need to access.
\\server\share$
When I go to start> Run and type in the share, it takes about 35 seconds to open. It has been doing this for a long time over a year, it doesnt happen on every machine, only a few, Vista SP1 and XP SP3.
Just recently I discovered that if I open up File explorer and try to access the share from there, it opens immediately.
I've done some traffic captures to see what's going on when it's taking for ever, here is the two errors I get.
I think the first one is fairly normal.
SMB Trans2 Response, GET_DFS_REFERRAL, Error: STATUS_NO_SUCH_DEVICE
I think this one is the problem, however the share is there, it opens it after a bit.
SMB Tree Connect AndX Response, Error: STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME
It disconnects about 15 seconds into the request, and then it tries again at about another 15 seconds, then the folders open up.
Any Ideas?
