sloooow win xp...ME 2!

xp is very slow for me also....

2 days ago i received my HP PAVILION 7905 with :
- athlon xp 1900+
- 512 ddr
- sb live! (wdm) [i dunno what wdm is or if you need to know it, but there it is]
- gforce 3 ti 200 tv out


i only have 7 things checked to run at startup and with the fast processor and 512 ddr, i figure it should be fast, sometimes i click an icon and it'll take 10-15 seconds or it wont do it at all! i downloaded the update for xp and when i did, the 3 programs i had installed for online use (df2 a game, roger wilco a voice over net program, and icq instant messenger) would not work or load to the net. they said i was not connected to the net, but i have cable. so i had to restore the system to a previous time.....please help!!!...tx alot ---artaq

This may be a hardware problem. How fast does it boot ? It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenious.

it boots fast enough. no complaints there.

Check out the eventlogs for details.
Maybe you should active some audits too to monitor the problem.
And what is the configured size of the swap file ?
On which partition is it ?
Are there any problem devices in hardware-monitor.
Do all the drivers match with the hardware (some drivers needs to be updated)
Maybe there is some software that is taking too many resources (mmm... with a 1900 xp ???)
You could try to swap your RAM, maybe it's instable
