I am using Windows 2000 prof and I have a SLIP connection to a server. It assigns a subnet mask of 255.255.255.255. I wish to change this, how is this done?

Thanks.

this netmask is given by the dial-in RAS... u cannot change this... if u could do anything to, it would have to be done on the RAS...

good luck

The RAS is a Unix server - do you what needs to be changed on this to assign a different subnet mask?

Thanks.

edit /etc/hosts file where ip address assignment takes place.

This file already had my connection IP (and alias) entry declared, but my assigned subnet mask is still 255.255.255.255

There appears to be no other config files to allow me to specify a subnet mask for a particular ip address.

Any more ideas appreciated.

Thanks.
