Having some trouble getting a portal to slide. The fmp 7 help guide states "Portals slide like any other non-field object, but objects within a portal can't slide. If you specify that a portal slides up and the enclosing part shrink, FMP omits empty portal rows." Sorry for my ignorance as I am new to the software. I'd like for the portal to slide up and display only the rows with data in them while printing. When I attempt to slide the portal, it completely disappears and shows no data. Any suggestions would be a huge help,

Still having trouble getting the portal to slide. Everything else seems to be sliding perfectly, however when I go to print, there are a few blank pages that always print following the actual text in the body. Again I appreciate all help/ideas

Resolved the sliding portal problem however the blank pages still follow the body of the text. For instance, it is printing 4 pages because the portal rows span 4 pages in the layout mode however when the data is in the portal and slid up to its last value, it only uses 3 pages, how do I prevent the 4th blank page(s) from printing? Thanks

Portals were not designed to be printed. They will print, but there are serious limitatiions. The problem is that portals only print as many rows as are showing on the layout.
If you have a portal that display 5 rows, but this particular record has 8 rows in the portal, the last 3 will never print. Reverse also portal with 8 rows, only 5 will print, 3 blanks etc.
You could make a separate layout with a portal that has enough rows to satisfy the largest number of rows, but even then, fields within portal rows will not slide up through unused portal space. In addition, if a portal crosses a page break, it will not break elegantly.

To get the best results, you'll need to use a sub-summary report in the related file/table.
The sub-summary is sorted by the match field from the related file.

best is to print from the related file to have no problems at all.
