I'm a UK cartoonist and I draw straight into the mac (My G3 laptop, and I also use my G4 mac), via wacom tablet.
I am going to be presenting a slideshow at the weekend, for which Jpeg View software will be perfect. Also, my ancient Quadra and monitor will be perfect for the occassion. I don't want to disassemble and transport my G4 pride and joy).
However, Jpeg View won't work on the old Quadra (OS is 7). Can I get round this or is there another slideshow software package - free or shareware - anyone can suggest for the day?
Many thanks in advance

I think, but I might be wrong that the only system that you can upgrade to 7.5.3 on a Quadra if this is any help.

I managed to upgrade it to 8.6 however I don't think it was stable.

By ungrading to 7.5.3 you might be able to run the app you need to. If you can't fix it in 20 call someone who can.

Actually, you can run 8.1 on that Quadra, if it's of the 68040 variety. Knowing the exact model number would help. Also, run 7.5.5 if you're going to stay with the 7.x series of OS. It fixes some nasty memory leaks and Open Transport problems that 7.5.3 had.
Best of luck,
PT

7.5.5 was the last of the OS 7 upgrades and worked everywhere. OS 8 will run on a Quadra 650 if it has a load of RAM (you'll need over 40MB to get it to do anything though).

Seeing 8.6 on a Quadra would be interesting though... haven't you got anything better to do with your time Matt?

a downloadable slide show that will run on system 7 and
I believe you can still upgrade your os to 7.53 for free at apple.com

There was a free version of KAI PowerTools Show that shipped with zip drives and I think it was bundled with some adobe stuff a few years back. It made great self-running slide shows that you could distribute on floppies.
