My fellow colleagues just installed a SL8500. It’s going to be 8 handbots with service door. They will be using more than 24 drives (LTO, 9940, T10KA/B)

I am working on site now but went to assist because the SL8500 just do not want to completely initialized. The service required light is on.

As it powers up all looks okay, 2 rail power supplies the top one’s just keeps on flashing green. All the PSU for the rails and drives are in.

We can see that the handbots are communicating as the LED lights are flashing on the handbots.

The drives are all ok.

We don’t see any communication on the switch on ports 5 and 7 they go to the HBX card, I think (Controller/interface).

We went through all the connectors/cables as per the book again and again and they are all okay. We might be over looking something.

Did any of you experienced the same problem?

Hi, we managed to fix the two top flashing PSU - cable was not seated correctly...

We still have an issue with the handbots not initializing... we can see that the handbots are communicating, etc... but just does not move... all rails 48V... any advise.

Hi, there is a instsllation procedure with the order to install the 4 news handboot, do you have it?.

You can see in SLC logs, (on front of library, if it´s installed, or you can use a remote SLC), looking any errors...

I will tray to do a rollback, and start again the installation, in fact: the library go to normal state without the new Boots?

To resume:

1st: rollback the installation
2nd. look the logs
3rd: to inform us about the result of the previus task..

thanks, and sorry by my poor english...

Dear R1957,

Thank u for replying... all the help counts...(never mind the English):)

The new library was installed - with 8 handbots + service door... When we power on the SL8500: we can see that the handbots are or trying to communicate but no handbot movements...

On the operators panel:- Library ok
Robot folder - all yellow with exclamation marks - offline

under logs: see below:
Time : 2010-10-04T11:24:44.942
Device Address : 1.0.0.0.0
User : root
Requester : default
Activity : internal
Request Id : 0
Level : error
Result Code : 3215
Text : "Robot initialization error - No robots found!"
Parameters :

The parameters does not really display any info

We are going to try a different HBC card, etc...

The result code is not giving a lot like the FSC codes, etc...

Your point 3 - do you refer to the PSU problem?

Best regards

Hi,
Everything indicates a power problem in robots...
Did you remove the blue film protector from the copper strips?
Did you close the contact lever from handboots?
If you test on strip, (up and down), can you see +48 VDC, (push both door switch to test it and probe the 4 rails)?.

My advice about unistall four handboots, was to probe if the library went to good status before power on...

A last question: do you have the installation manual of sl8500 library?

Good luck!!!

Hi again,

Sorry, i had an english wrong...The question is:

My advice about unistall four handboots, was to probe if the library went to good status after power on

Hi,
Thank for replying.
We did removed all the tape from the copper power strips. We also have 48V on all rails.

The brushes are making good contact with the strips.

The PSU on SLC are all correct. The library status are all good. We do have the installation book.

Regards

My suggestion to start with 4 robots and once they get ready, then install the other 4 is to avoid having to set up between them at first.

What is the firmware of the library?

The issue of flashing green LED sources can be the showed in table 48 of installation manual: "DC Power Supply Troubleshooting"...

Please, could you send us, in attach, the error, warn info events logs of SLC?.

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi, thank you once again for replying. We did trying with the 4 and 8 handbots. I will upload the logs Monday. Yesterday one of the 8 handbots moved and pushed the other to the service area. The moving handbot was still showing offline. After more tests no more moving handbots - even the handbot that moved did not move again.

Some result codes I rememner:
512-robot cannot go operational
514-robot needs to be reset
3204-systerm error received invalid board state async from hardware
The connectivity test all paased to library and controller. The handbots failed with no communication.

We installed 3 other SL8500 successfully-this is the first...

Regards

Okay, I'll be waiting on Monday to see the logs, but the situation appear complicated ..
did contacted to Oracle local support for assistance?

Thank you, (from Argentina)...

We managed to find the problem - we received a spare HBC card - and there the handbots and others started to work!
