Greetings all. I have an unusual request from a customer. I could accomplish this on an Avaya system pretty easily, but that's because I'm far more familiar with that system. Looking for suggestions on an NEC SL2100.

The customer has an answering service where they forward their calls by using the provider's (*72) service. They also, at times, prefer to forward their calls to a cell phone, in order to prevent incurring charges from their answering service. Both of these are easy to accomplish when they are on premise to do so. However, they would like to change from one to the other remotely. Presumably, if they could call into an auto attendant, then get outside dial tone on a specific line (by using a predetermined code), this could be done. I have no idea how to accomplish this on the SL2100.

Or perhaps, a couple virtual extensions could be forwarded to *72,,XXX-XXXX, (where XXX-XXXX) is the "forwarded to" number? But this would need to be directed out the correct line.

So, how would YOU accomplish this?

I haven't tried this yet but there is a way to change the NIGHT mode via the auto attendant dial action table. The NIGHT service feature access code is 718X as such you can have the inmail class of service allow for manual night service and have a dial action option to dial 7185 and put the pbx in night mode 5, for example, which would direct trunks to a virtual extension that is cf always to your answering service. This chould work. It would not be using the *72 telco call forward feature.

I have done this, and it works. You just get a canned response from the PBX, but just ignore it. I suggest using a hidden dial action table, so only an admin knows about it.

@jsaad

You could modify it to dial the direct trunk access code followed by the divert code followed by the number to divert to (you may need to insert some pauses too) but that way you could use the network diversion and possibly keep costs down.

Thank you all. I knew it could be done. Just didn't know the "NEC way". I will play with it a bit and let you (and future readers) how it turned out.
