Hi, We've noticed that the SL2100 seems to lock up its SIP reg as in it wont allow connections at all until rebooted if you open 5070/5080 UDP to the internet. It appears people attempting to scan/hack the system results in this.

Now that people want to work for home on dynamic public addresses we have to open 5070/5080.

Is there any work around? we can move the port numbers but will that be a short term fix? What are others doing for remote workers?

I have a cable modem and fios both 'dynamic'. The IP on the fios hasn't changed in years and the cable modem once every 6 months maybe. I believe you allow only the specific external IPs that can access the sl2100 ports it will perform as desired.

Hackers normally scan IP's for the most common open ports.
You can delete any unused extension ports and password-protect any SIP Extensions currently in use. This will ensure that the hackers cannot register to any other "available" extensions/ports...
