Hi all

have an SL1100 site using SIP trunks. SIP is registered all ok, utbound calls are no problem. However, after a period of non use either in or outbound, it seems like the SIP keepalive or similar is not active. No inbound calls are possible, until such time as an outbound call is made via the SIP. Seems an odd issue, we have many SL100's with SIP, none behaving in this manner. Any clues?

It sounds as if the port forwarding on the router is either wrong or missing. The SIP server can't reach the SL1100 without port forwarding, but if you made an outbound call those ports would be open to the SIP server waiting for a response to traffic initiated by the phone system. Those ports would remain open until the UDP timeout on the router expired.

If you don't have access to the router a workaround might be to increase the registration interval, but ideally you want to address what seems to be the missing/broken port forwarding on the router
