We'd like to set up a live updatable database on the internet using Sidekick

We would like to use SKW98 (although the data was entered originally on old reliable SKW2and would be imported into SKW98) and set it up as an accessible internet web page so anyone in our firm can access the data and update it.

It's the Cardfile we need to get on internet - not the Calendar. Anyone know if this is do-able?

Dear newsnet,
In sidekick98 choose Internet|Publish to the web...
Then choose your cardfile and the look of it and the cards to include and then click on ok.
Then go to the location in shown in the address line of the browser eg:

file:///c:/Program%20Files/Starfish/Sidekick%2098/webcard/cdcards.htm

and then copy all the relevant files into a folder on your website

Voila

Regards
Jim

Dear Newsnet,
The only problem though, is that it is read only in that state(as a web page) and to update it you need to alter the original Cardfile and re-upload it and if 2 people or more are updating it at the same time, the changes of the first to update will be overwritten by the latter.

Sidekick is not meant to be run over a network.

If you make a rule to only allow one person at a time to update it, then that is ok.
HTH
